OTTAWA (Reuters) – Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday.
Sure they will have 2 seats but they will pay! Watch them fork over $300 for an extra bag of peanuts. Use of the airplane head will cost upwards of $500.
I must admit the large and old folks have always had a place in my heart. They are good people.
There are more rude passengers than large. The large people try not to bother others while the bullies extends their arms or take both rest leaving one with no space even to breath.
Reserve your tickets with plenty of time if possible and have your hubby or partner where you may recline yourself vs the butterflies.
I agree because I am tired of having to fight over the arms rests and sleeping with a bunch of strangers on these planes. Its way too close for any body's comfort. Not only would it be good for the more heffy people but it would benefit us not so heffy ones too. I dream about the olds days when it was a pleasure to fly.
One other thing, they need those sequential leg squeezer they use in surgery on the planes to avoid blood clots especially since you have to sit in a seat for 5 hours straight and can no longer loiter at the back of plane and walk around.
We were flying to St Petersburg, Russia and after a long morning/afternoon we all needed to have a mandatory relief. The weather was good and after 4 hrs flight I called the flight attendant that I needed to visit the loo, we all were trapped with the seat belt.
She said NO, the lights were on .
I waited for another hour and then when I asked again she says NO again.
My answer was pointing the seat: Do you rather that I go here in my seat or in the loo?
Obviously she reacted favorable this time and then the lights of the seat belts were off for the rest of the trip until we landed.
When we can't use the toilet, the terrorists have won.
Better yet, the airlines keep special flights for fat people. They all seat together and graze on the buffet line inside the plane.
The only hitch, the got to watch shows from Fit TV.
That does not work, then, they just have to travel by Fed Ex or UPS planes, with the pianos.

I'm starting to think that they should have 'special' flights for jerks who make comments like that one (and many of the ones that unfortunately can be found above).
The flights should take all the jerks to an island and just leave them there.
I think I found the perfect diet ya'll....
see the site about the man caught masterbating with a jar of spegetti sauce.
LOL *eyesrolling*
I think this is borderline ridiculous. The only way I could see this being even a plausibly intelligent is for those who must sit beside a larger person, because believe me, it can become quite uncomfortable. However, what I think should be examined here is really, who's fault is it that they are obese? Theirs, save for possible special instances and circumstances, but in the general amount of cases, it is one's own fault they are obese. Maybe the idea of if one's circumference is greater then a certain diameter, they should purchase another seat, potentially as an influence to possibly better their health, because one's gluttony and laziness should not entitle him to an extra seat on a plane (but here we encounter an issue of how to determine whether one's obesity is a result of self-indulgence or a possible case of metabolic syndrome). All in all, this is quite a perplexing issue, but here's my suggestion: created a 'larger' person section on the plane. Larger seats, same price as regular seats, specially reserved for those who require more room. In instances where a person who is not necessarily in need of this extra room takes one of these seats, it is left unto the flight attendants discretion to decide if he/she can have that seat or may have to trade with someone who may be possibly in need of more space. Thats my two cents haha.
your suggestion of creating a "large section" on the plane....why, if they do that then a multiple request have to be granted too.....like a special section for latino speaking (make it comfortable for them to speak with each other during a long flight)....a special section for muslim....make sure its facing east so they could do their prayer.....a special section for cowboy and indian......a special section for meat lover separate from vegetarian......and so on
Point taken, however, I was basing this off of the logic of the 'smoking section', where smokers have a specific place to do something which they want that happens to bother others (which is completely redundant as smoke easily can travel to the non-smokers section in a confined space but that is another discussion unto itself). Hence, providing a section for larger folks where they could have extra space would be quite similiar and following the same logic-they are big, regular seats are too small for them, it bothers others, so they get larger seats for their personal comfort and the comfort of others as well.
But as for the special requests you mentioned yes, point taken, but obviously impractical, whereas a section for larger people is relatively a practical and feasible solution, in my opinion (again, think 'smoking section'-'larger person section'). Thanks for replying!
true, i totally forgot about the smoking section. ( i dont think there any smoking section on any airline anymore)
while i recognized that some people need to be accomodated because of their physical needs....i just cant get over how we as american are so spoiled and so quick to complain when our needs are not met.....compare to third world country, where survival and food on their tummy are the priority ...you dont see or hear them complain about any silly issue like this....
Yes, I completely agree with you (and nope, no smoking sections anymore, they finally realized the redundancy). Many of us living in the so-called 'have' countries, we take so much for granted. Take, for example, as you said, survival and having food being the top priority. In Canada, we classify 'poverty' as something like spending more then 59% of income on basic needs. Then you are classified as 'poor'. Pardon me, but looking at many third world countries they spend 100% of their income on the more necessary of basic needs, usually not meeting all of them.
And yes, this issue is quite silly when you think about it, but the thing with us North Americans is, we realize that there are hundreds of millions who would do anything to be what we classify as 'poor', but we seem unable to realize just how fortunate we are. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it!
We need a special airline just for those extra large people. Time to fly "Fat Air"!
