In all, 94 people — including several doctors and nurses — were charged Friday in scams totaling $251 million. Federal authorities, while touting the operation, cautioned the cases represent only a fraction of the estimated $60 billion to $90 billion in Medicare fraud absorbed by taxpayers each year.

For the first time federal officials have the power to overhaul the system under Obama's Affordable Care Act, which gives them authority to stop paying a provider they suspect is fraudulent. Critics have complained the current process did nothing more than rubber-stamp payments to fraudulent providers.

Excellent news! While most right-wingers are worried about the paltry amounts that brown illegal immigrants "might" get from our government, the Obama administration is going out and getting WHOEVER is defrauding our government...and apparently getting a lot of money and and lot of ??Russians?? in the process.

When will these types of acts be considered terrorism ? These types of actions harm many people. Sure 94 involved, but can we imagine how many they harmed ? I can take an educated guess and say thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands even.

Can we hear a little support for the ACA?

Indeed...as the positive news about the Affordable Care Act come out more and more, I expect to hear Republicans praising the bill that they lied about for a year. Or maybe not Republicans...but at least a lot of ignorant Americans should wake up to the fact that the health care reform bill does a lot of good, good things for our country!

It is a travesty to see theft of this magnitude occur. This is no better than committing murder, as the amount of man-hours that went into creating the cash that was stolen makes it equivalent to stealing hours of lifetime away from others. $251 million at a good salary of $15/hour makes it about 16 million hours of labor. Even divided over 94 people, it will exceed any amount of productivity that any of them can perform during their lifetimes, meaning they can never repay society for this. I can't imagine what it would be like to devote even an hour of my time a day for a thieving jerk to have a good time, and in essence they have stolen hours that could have been spent doing something other than work from us all. The death penalty is not a severe enough punishment for these people.
