There's no quick fix for severe depression.
Although antidepressants like Prozac have been around since the 1970s, they usually take weeks to make a difference. And for up to 40 percent of patients, they simply don't work.
As a result, there are limited options when patients show up in an emergency room with suicidal depression.

Listened to this over the last two days on the radio.
I have reas elsewhere that Ketamine has been around for decade as an antidpressant but this is the first I have heard of it.
I also heard (from part two of the program) that another drug commonly used to treat sea sickness is being tested. I can't remember the name of that drug (starts with SK or SC).
